Ripping its enormous sails against the Sardinian winds, the iconic "Maltese Falcon" superyacht totally sailed to overall victory over three days of exciting sailing in the Sardinian waters during the Perini Navi Cup 2018.
The seventh edition of the Perini Navi Cup was held at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, from 19-22 September 2018 and was attended by 21 race participants- all owners of the Perini Navi family. This time, the Maltese Falcon was on a mission to improve her placing since her last participation in 2015 - where she placed fifth- and she achieved it, totally dominating each day’s racing.
Owned by the Greek hedge-fund billionaire Elena Ambrosiadou, the 88m Maltese Falcon has been hailed by the media as the World’s Largest Yacht for years. Even though her claim to the crown was recently overtaken by the 106m. Black Pearl, the Maltese Falcon still proves that is built with unprecedented technology, allowing her to reach incredible speed and performance, winning Each day’s racing in Perini Navi Cup 2018. The victory of the “Maltese Falcon” was a victory for Greece: Ms Amvrosiadou dedicated the winning to the female entrepreneurship and the spirit of fair play. With a Greek captain and notable crew of sailing champions, the team paid tribute to the Greek flag.
Throughout yachting history, few superyachts have enjoyed the international recognition which the Maltese Falcon enjoys ever since her delivery in 2006. She inaugurated the pioneering sailing system Falcon Rig, allowing her to reach the incredible speed of 25 knots. A masterpiece of technology and design, she is definitely the most recognizable yacht in the world, for a reason!
